A bit of context…

Jonathan Tyler Paul was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. Starting as a bassist with a passion for hardcore punk, electronic music, and independent rock. He began touring and performing nationally at the age of sixteen. At eighteen Jonathan moved to New York City to continue pursuing music. There, he was discovered by world renown talent agency Ford Models. His first job in New York, a look book for the designer Alexander Wang launched his career in high fashion. He then continued to collect an impressive list of global clients including V Man Magazine, Tori Burch, Nordstrom, Vogue Italy, Vogue Hommes Japan, and many, many more.

Simultaneously, Jonathan founded Indie-Electronic band “Basic Vacation” and signed a joint record deal with Capitol Records and Troy Carter’s Atom Factory Music. After the success of Basic Vacation’s chart climbing single “I Believe” and 2013 self titled EP, Jonathan once again pushed forward with another musical project. The Nectars; a female fronted underground punk rock ensemble who’s short but meteoric rise, critically acclaimed 2017 album Sci-Fi Television Love, and two fiery European tours ( became fabled in the NYC third-wave post punk scene.

After settling in New York’s Hudson Valley he began work as an apprentice luthier for master guitar and bass builder Michael Tobias at his MTD Woodstock location. Here, he builds one of a kind hand made instruments daily, some of which he uses for his own recordings.

With a musical focus on writing, producing and performing under the name Ethical Drift, he continues to push the limits of live and recorded music with a unique irreverent twist. Within the NY underground dance scene Ethical Drift is known for high energy, eclectic DJ sets that push the bounds of House Music.
